All my boys at the zoo!
Oh my, it is always an adventure to the mall with my boys. It usually is not something we do because boys and malls just don’t go together according to them. But on an occasion such as this one we decided to go. It was decided that dad needed some ‘good smellin‘ stuff, as they would call cologne for Father’s Day. On the way to the mall they were counting their money out and putting it together so they knew how much they were able to spend. Jordan was so proud of his two bucks that he was able to contribute, SOOOO PROUD! Anyway, the whole way there I warned and lectured, “only pick FOUR scents and from there decide” . You ask why the limitation? Because of EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid.
I have done this for years, I get them to where they need to go to get what they want to get and then sneak off with my eye hiding around the corner watching so that they may do business on their own. This was no different today except that there was a WARNING, a lecture, before getting there that ALL went right out the door. I left them be at the cologne counter and if you can imagine big hands to little hands, eight to be exact, on every single bottle that had a squirt to it. They began at one end and went around all the way to the other end not missing one bottle, every scent smelling themselves, smelling each other, oops got in Corvan’s eye, fixing that, to moving on to the next scent…..this went on and on FOREVER! I wanted to jump in and get way involved and remind them of the lecture, but I was laughing sooooooo hard, practically in a heap on the floor cuz I couldn’t control myself (can you imagine what people must have been thinking when watching me watch them?) Didn’t even cross my mind at the time because I was enjoying this so ‘stinkin‘ much!!! Guess which one they picked? The VERY LAST SCENT AT THE END OF THE COUNTER!!!! SO, funny, I can hardly control the laughing thinking about it. And then how they each dug way down deep in those pockets to give to big brother so that he may pay for it. So STINKIN’ cute!
They started heading down the mall hallway where they were suppose to meet back up with me…..there was no getting around where they were, there was no way to loose them, they stunk soooooooo bad you could smell them from one end of the mall to the other. They all came up to me so proud and showing off this scent and that scent, “smell this one mom, no smell this one, oh and this is a good one!” I asked, “so which one did you actually decide?” They all fought a bit about who was wearing it and where it was on him. I assured them that I am sure they picked the PERFECT one.
On the drive home on our 60 degree day, windows were down….for it was toxic in the car. I told them to go change their clothes for church and they couldn’t figure out why when they had just changed them to go to the mall.
We presented the gift to dad with much pride this morning. I went down to Spooner’s for fresh out of the field strawberries and made homemade crepes (so yummy), dad loved the ONE scent so much, he accidentally squirted it in Jordan’s eye sharing just how good it smelled. Once we rinsed the eye out a few times with warm water he decided he was going to be ok.
This is how the morning ended, I dont’ know about Jim but I had the best father’s day ever, I loved every STINKIN’ minute of it!
