’tis the season….

That time of the year….4th of July hits and that is the sign…time to bring in the hay. Today is a 97 degree day, it is 3:00, and Layton is over at Bona’s home (grandma) cutting hay and bailing it. Of course, his mother follows him out to the field, “put sunscreen on, got your ipod?, where is your water bottles?, drink plenty, reapply that sunscreen after a couple of hours, you have beautiful skin, keep that hat real low, where are your sunglasses?” Finally, as I’m chasing him out to the field, he turns and says, “ENOUGH ALREADY!” Ok, that was my clue to back off.
It brought me back to when I was about 13 and I began helping in the fields at haying season…it was time spent with my dad, cousins, neighbors. I loved every minute of it, even though I was such a waft, weighed less than a bail of hay, yet I could hook those babies and toss them to where they needed to be. It was fun to be apart, sweatin’ a little with the big boys.

Jenay - Love this…I can sooo picture you chasing Layo through the field with the sunscreen. Oh, it’s hard to watch these boys become men!!! Oh, and by the way…you still don’t weigh more than a bale of hay you dork.

Layo…Auntie Nay is sooo proud of you. You are such a man and such a good worker..way to go stud.
