When one of my kid’s turn a year older I always look back to that day and then tell them the story of this day. My mom did that to us girl’s (still does). I don’t know if they like it or not but it still brings you back to THAT DAY!
For Jordan what stands out is that he came as a complete surprise. Didn’t even have it on the radar screen. I had it so out of my mind that when a girl friend called me thinking she might be pregnant I told her I would do the same (not because I thought I was) just to make her feel like she had someone in her boat. Her report? Not-a! Me on the other hand….took the test and after reading several of these things and understanding them well all of the sudden knew this one was WRONG. I even called the company to make sure I did it right. I called my midwife and she waited for me to come screeching in when they were already closed to have her REALLY confirm. I called girl friend and we both laughed in SHOCK! Also had to call Sister who I was to run a relay race with on a team the following weekend,so that she could replace me!
When I told Jim, we had just had a entry made up to our home, of the (three) boys on horses, Jim had JUST gotten it up the weekend before. When he and I were looking at it I told him that we were going to have to ‘add’ another horse and kid to it. Jim, with his few words, said, “nope it looks good to me!” We still haven’t changed it up, but we DO have another boy!
The last thing, Jordan came on a day that I was headed to a concert with a girl friend to go see Bon Jovi. Yes! Bon Jovi. I was already to be decked out in my 80’s attire. My friend asked if I felt comfortable going in my state. No question, HECK yah!!! I called her the morning of the concert and told her I would have to be a no show for I was in the hospital and just had Jordan! A little bitter sweet, ha, ha! I do think I got the better end of the deal though. (giggle)
So, all the way around, I would say this kid has been a surprise from the very beginning. Not to our Lord who put him with us, but to us, he never stops surprising us! And what a delight this kid is. He is exuberant, full of life all of the time! Even as an infant the Lord gave me a word for him about his character and it was ‘Zealous nature’ and that is the truth!
Thinking he is 5 years old today….gives me goose bumps! You always are grateful that your babes are growing up healthy and strong but he is my BABY and five doesn’t sound quite so baby like anymore….wahhhhhhhhh!
Happy birthday to my baby boy!
This is my day of continuing my list of gratefulness:
53. Jordan’s ‘zealous nature’
54.Jordan’s skinny tall body
55.Jordan’s blond hair
56.Jordan’s sweet spirit
58.a baby who still likes to crawl into Momma’s lap with his blanket
59.eager to learn
60.Jordan always starting his prayers with “Jesus, please Jesus…..
61.the way Jordan crawls into bed with me before his own, prays, and throw his leg over me and rubs my back
62.Jordan and his ‘no fear’ factor!
