We have been spending some great time with the folks. Great evening stories and fun little outings here and there. I watch the kids hang on Poppa’s every word, they think he is funny and this fuels the fire for another ‘funny from Poppa’. Layton wants to bring his friends home to meet Poppa the cowboy. They have been sitting around the fire, just hangin’. Meme and I have been busy doing hair, we got pedicures, did a little Easter shopping, cookin’, cleanin’ and playin’ with the kids, some good times spent with Mom, it’s been awhile.
I woke up on the day of their arrival, Wednesday, went for my normal run, all seemed normal and the same. I went to make my bed and threw my back out. OHHHHHHHH, so painful…I will tell you that slowed me down a few notches. So, not only that but I am having a major foot issue. I go to the doctor today. I feel like I am walking on a golf ball on the bottom of my foot. THis all happened in one day!!!! So, I will go to the foot doc and then chiropractor and see if they can’t put me back together. A little discouraged knowing I have a race coming up and have been training so diligently for it. So, I have been calling on our Healer!
Today? Sister and her gang show up! SO excited!
I was reading today in Luke 22 when Jesus and his disciples went to the Mount of Olives. This is what struck me:
He told the disciples to pray so that they would not fall into temptation.
Even in Jesus distress over what was to come he was thinking of the disciples and their ‘humanness’ and was giving them warning. Prayer keeps us walking the straight and narrow.
After Jesus prayed it gave him strength to go on.
I was always kind of rough on the fact that the disciples fell asleep in the garden when they should have been praying for what was to come for Jesus. It explained they fell asleep because they were exhausted with sorrow. It gave me a little more compassion for them that I never saw before.
Jesus told them to get up and pray to stay out of temptation. Again, not thinking about what to come for himself he was concerned of their consequences to their lack of action…. PRAYER!
I thought this was some good food for a day such as today as we remember Jesus dying on the cross…
Thank you Lord!
