Let the hair down a little today!

I had a great day today with my Brayden. This kid works hard and he also plays hard and we worked hard to play today!

We dropped the kids off at Bona’s house and took the horses out on the trail. We had so much fun….I am always paranoid we are going to get lost, Brayden brought his trusty compass ‘just in case’. I have not a very good sense of direction and Brayden, it just comes natural. So, he told me at all times where we were but I, again, paranoid me, had him get that compass out (that I cannot read) and he was always right on.

For years now, since having babies I haven’t gone OUT much. Riding here in the field and mostly giving the kids lessons and then by the time it was my turn it was short and sweet.

I had a bit of that, freedom thing today, like I use to ALL the time when Jim and I were first married. I would get on my horse after work with shorts, boots, helmet on and run up across the road by myself and ride for miles and miles. NO FEAR, just go, go, go…..then the kids came and of course it became about them and their needs, fear settled in a lot more, and just less time. Not a bad thing just different. Today, riding with Brayden, it was relaxing and free. We enjoyed each others company and loved just riding and spending time with the horses outside of the field.

I look forward to the next time for sure!

Cheryl@OntheOldPath - I haven’t ridden in ages it is something I dream of doing again some day. I am glad you had such a good day. On another note have you shared Layton’s MRI results yet? Maybe you did and I missed it somehow.

Pamela - Oh that sounds like so much fun! Although I’d have to take your Brayden with me because I’m impossible with directions, too.

Courtney - I know just what you mean – sometimes I feel like I’ve lost my previous spirit of adventure because I am so busy being Responsible Mom. Good for you for finding it. You’ve encouraged me to do the same!

Jenay - So glad you and Brayden got this opportunity!!! I’m pretty sure you are wearing tennis shoes though…and if Charlie sees that he will have a full blown heart attack. Where are your boots sis????

Amy Sullivan - Marlece,

Besides doing something that’s good for you, you are making some memories. Love that.

I was just thinking about you the other day. I’ve been so bad about visiting this summer. Glad to see (and hear!) you are doing well.

Mama D.'s Dozen - Sounds like a FUN day! I haven’t ridden in almost 20 years. (I had 6 kids then … but now have 12.)

My young kids LOVE to ride whenever they have the opportunity.
