on our own…..

I’ve been a busy girl holding down the fort around here. My three biggest boys (one being husband) left for an entire week for the mountains to hunt. They didn’t come back with anything but I think had a good time with their dad. I think the Lord orchestrated the whole thing because Jim is leaving indefinitely for a job in Southern California. This way the boys got to spend some real ‘man’ time with their dad before being home with Mom.

The two little ones, we had a great time. We went to a wrestling meet in Vashon Island, took Corvan out of school for a day just to have some one on one fun with him, and when Jim asked while he was gone if the boys missed him I had to hummm and haaaaaa because I told him they took over our bed and was loving sleeping with their mom. I told the kids, “ONLY THE FIRST DAY!” But, I like it so much we did it the whole week. (Back to their beds they go though, no bad habits we can’t break here)

We went to a wrestling meet together Saturday, the boys did great. Corvan is really being challenged to some really tough competition so it’s making him work hard for his wins. It is going to better him in the future. It was a little bitter sweet knowing this could be possibly Jim’s last meet to actually be able to attend this season. This makes me sad. I think sometimes I like watching Jim watch his boys on that mat as much as I like watching the matches myself. I already have my mother inlaws video camera lined out to video each one so that I may send them via computer to Jim so that he can still watch the matches.

I have nothing but gratitude that his work, as sparse as it is here at home, they care enough to keep him working. I am also grateful that I have a man who will do what it takes to provide for his family and that is being a real man. So, I say, I am nothing but thankful, thankful, thankful!

And I will end on this note, Jordan, out of the blue the other morning says, “In the olden days Santa was a Cowboy” I asked how he thought this and he just looked at me like I was  ‘not so bright  for asking such a dumb question’. So, there you have it, Santa is a Cowboy!

Here is a picture of the boys on their hunting trip. I asked them, “are you happy?” with much excitement they said, “YES!” Hello?, I don’t understand……so I just slipped a little thought into my head as I look at their faces, that I choose to keep that says, “I MISS MY MOMMA!”

This is what their little hut that they built looks like. I thought it was pretty cool. And I love that Brayden is READING and there is a  fire extinguisher in there!Layton being a teenager, SLEEP!

This is the sight they saw each day, isn’t that a picture? Our Lord is such an artist.

Brandee Shafer - That last photo: wowser! I’m sorry, Marlece, that your husband has to leave home to work. You’re so good and right to look for reasons to be thankful. Lots of love to you and yours.

Jenay - Love the update. That is an intense camp…not surprising…good “ole Jim always comes through with the best and the most. The boys look so comfy in their camp. Just saw Jim…so nice of him to stop by. He hugged each of us and gave us an update and headed out. So good to see him. Sorry you and the boys will be alone, but as we both know…it’s ok for a time…dinner can be hot dogs! Yippee!!!

Casey Martinez - I love the “I miss my momma,” caption with that picture!! hahahah That was perfect:). In regards to your question about So-Cal, I lived there for 25 years and now I live in North Carolina. My family is all in So-Cal still. How long will your hubby be working there? I will lift your family up in prayer. I’m thankful he has work too but, I do know it’s hard to be away from a hubby and for kiddos to be away from Dad for a long time. Your hubby is awesome to do what needs to be done! What a guy!!

Jen - Oh, Marlece, I love your heart and how you encourage your family so much. I’ll be praying for you while your husband is away.

Natalie at Mommy on Fire - Marlece, I love reading about your family!!!! I am a deer widow in November…My hubs just returned yesterday and was very frustrated – the winds were too strong (we have been having wind advisories and had a tornado here last night – we are fine) so he is going back the weekend after Thanksgiving…Sigh.

BUT…He says the time in the stand with God is by far his most precious time with the Lord that he has all year. That’s why I love when he goes.

What precious time with your boys, Marlece!!!
