enjoying friends in need!

I am sooooooo excited! I think I have one of the most fun times I have had in such a long time. I shouldn’t be smilin’ when it comes to someone’s distress and discomfort but it has been so much fun being with these people I care and love. To be able to HELP THEM OUT!! My dear friends and so many people around here are going on close to a week of no power in their homes. Having my friends stay with us, or drop by to shower and do some laundry, or get cabin fever and so maybe a haircut might make me feel better feeling. I am in my element. I get to cook, share my house, watch movies, talk, have tea, fold laundry together, just doing LIFE with friends. It’s been an absolute blast. So, as I was cleaning up my downstairs PIT with all of this wet stuff, it’s hard to keep up, but anyway, I was thinking all of this last week thru and thinking how there is always a blessing in the storm and I am feeling blessed, my girl friend calls and said, “husband is coming by your house in just a minute!” He’s a LINEMAN and he’s working on the lines right by our house. OK, OK, a dream of mine in times like this is to be able to feed one of these guys when they are on duty, being a major hero that they are and to be able to say thankyou by making their bellies happy, OH MY GOSH IT WAS OVER THE TOP FOR ME!. I was so excited I almost peed my pants, couldn’t get girl friend off the phone fast enough, we hung up, I went and made him and the others some hot coffee and had just pulled hot cookies out of the oven so they were still warm!!!. I got to go out there and distribute it and put a smile on their face. SO MUCH FUNNNNNNNN I!!!!!! I mean it, I’ve been wanting to do that since this whole thing started! I got my chance.

School resumes in the morning, back to task. Lots of added things on the list of to do’s with a hole in our roof and limbs that have taken over our place, it’s a bit overwhelming,  but I’m happy all is well. Signing off for the night…..sweet dreams!

Shauna - I can tell you, you made that lineman VERY happy. Justin always tell me stories of people that bring them coffee and donuts so a meal…… I am sure you were his hero. I should have sent a few friend over that we have been talking to that are working your storm. 🙂

Mama D.'s Dozen - I am so like that. I love to help friends in need. And, the cookies and hot coffee … so up my alley.

Thankfully, not too many of us up in Whatcom County lost power this week. But, if they had, and we’d kept ours … you bet I would have opened our home up as a comfortable place of refuge.

So sorry about your roof. Yikes! Especially difficult for you to deal with while your hubby is working out of state.

Hope your week is BLESSED!

Laurel 🙂
