Oh my, the past couple of days have been interesting in the weather department here in the northwest. I know that some people put up with much more severe weather trends than what we are getting, but it is all so new that it is so exciting! We had a thunder and lightning storm several days ago. The kids were outside with me in the barn and the thunder hit, “BOOM!” and afterwards it was silent and as I looked out to see what the kids were doing they were high tailing it to the house, and I heard the door slam, with another big “BOOM” from the door! They got in the house and opened the door just enough to yell out to me that they were in the house. It was so stinkin’ cute! So, I came in with them and coaxed them to come out and watch it with me. My kids (even Layton) never remember having a lighting storm before. We just don’t get them here.
It brought me back to my childhood and when I was a kid where we lived we had them more frequent. I remember laying on the grass with neighbor friends, Sherri and Stacy, when I was just probably in 4th grade looking up at the sky watching the sky and listening to the thunder roll. We got all rained on and didn’t even care. It was entertaining! Good memory!
Last night the storm came again. I really enjoy it. It is still warm outside for the most part and it just makes you realize just how BIG God is once more. The big boys were gone and Jim was working out of town so guess who slept with me all night? We had ourselves a little sleeping party in my bed. This morning the thunder was still rolling, I went for a run with Ruby and she hates it. She ran WAY too fast and was definitely leading the way with force. She was wanting to GET HOME!
Then remembering this time of the year when I was a kid also….
Hay season, we just filled our barn and are ready for a winter season. Haying season will always bring you to a place of feeling needed. More the help the easier it is on every one. I remember this well, with the cousins!
