These apple rolls are….well, let’s just say, the pan was empty that NIGHT after making them. Grandma made these and my Ma followed suit.
4 medium sized apples
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
Put sugar and water in pan. Cook about 5 minutes over slow heat whole syrup is cooking make dough.
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
6 tsp shortening
3/4 cup milk
Roll about 1/4 thick. Spread with finely chopped apples and roll into long roll. Cut into 2 inch pieces and dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon. Pour syrup around rolls Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Eat right of the oven with a dollup of ice cream . Hot, cold and oh so sweet to the tongue.
