Scary moment!

Photobucket Ok, just looking back at some very happy moments for Ruby and I,  but today….

We were doing what we do most mornings, we were on our run, same route I have gone many times, like a billion and one times, with IPod in ears, leash in hand and we were just cruzin’ along when out of the blue here they come!!!

The two huge German shepherds that are always behind their very high fence were coming for us, the gate was open!!. And yes, I yelled, “OH S__ __ T!” Their fangs were big and showing. They were after Ruby (can I just say she is the best dog ever). She didn’t challenge them back, no barking back from her, she just stood right beside me, not wimpy like but sure like.

As I was fighting the one off from the front the other came around from the back and was biting at Ruby’s butt and grabbed her foot. I took her leash off and began a swattin’! They started to back off some and I kept thinking in my head, “WHERE ARE THEIR OWNERS???” Finally, we made a dash for it as I was running backwards telling them to “GET HOME!!!” But it really was a loooooong fight, I was thinking, are they ever going to give up?!

A car stopped in the middle of all of this, it was nice but they were of NO help. Hello? I could have used another yelling voice or possibly a rock or two! But they asked if I was going to be ok…..ughhhhh, I was in the middle of a war zone, am I going to be ok? I ignored them and used their car as a barrier between dogs and us to make the dash.

Ruby is fine, I am fine, thank the Lord all is well! I will keep  a watch on her foot it is a little bloody, but she is not limping or anything. I am so glad I didn’t get bit either, that happened to me when I was just a kid when riding my bike and that ‘german shepherd’ grabbed the cheek of my butt and I will never forget it, ever.

Tomorrow? We might be a little more on the ‘look out’!

Karen and Gerard - That is scary for sure. January last year our dog and my husband were attacked by two Rottweilers and our dog is a very gentle friendly dog too. It was absolutely horrible! Our dog was all bloody and was bit 15 times all over her body. They just wouldn’t stop even though my husband and two neighbors were hitting them with branches. Finally someone fired a gun and they finally ran off. Our vet was amazing and our dog recovered eventually but it took 5 months for the hole in her abdomen to finally close up. The people thought the dogs were in their backyard but somehow the gate wasn’t locked properly and they got out. Glad are okay. I’d still have her checked out if I were you.

Anonymous - I have two words for you: Stun Batton. Four million volts would have stopped them in their tracks. Next time they saw you coming, they’d be shutting their own gate!
