that first day!

First day of school, emotions, excitement, frustration, all in about a 45 minute time period before they take a deep breath and hit those doors of the school one more year!

Brayden already looking like a pro as a freshman, high school, ok my throat is starting to hurt because I’m trying to not cry, ohhhh got the fingers to the nose pinching trying hard, fanning eyes, don’t cry!

Back on subject…..he seemed confident and I think he already knows many kids beings he’s been playing football for the past couple of months with the team.

Jordan? He had much wisdom this morning. He does have so much logic it amazes me. He chose to wear shorts last night for today but when we woke up it is pouring down rain. He decided to stick with the shorts because, “one more decision today might be too much on a day like today.” Smart kid don’t you think?

Then there is Corvan, who has so much anxiety built up in him he doesn’t know what to do with himself. I woke him up with kisses and he looks outside and says, “figures, rain on the first day of school, so now my nose is all plugged up and I have to wear pants.” Then, he gets down and decides that his tennis shoes don’t look good with his jeans and now he is going to look stupid. I tried to reason with him but he wasn’t having it at all. He comes out wearing his jeans, flannel shirt,( that should be worn when we have snow), and his shoes that look stupid (according to him) with his jeans. I suggested that maybe he could wear his light sweatshirt. He commented it was see threw, but ok who cares and went with that. He came into the kitchen with a comb. ” I have one piece of hair that is sticking up get it to go down.” I combed it down with some water and he says, “oh great you just combed it in the wrong direction!” Rhee (from next door) comes flying threw the door, they sit down to eat and he says, “I’m not hungry and Rhee comb your hair it is the first day of school after all!” I always read a  devotional for kids at breakfast and it was on the subject of peace this morning. He throws his hands in the air and says, “I have no peace in my life!” On the way to school Rhee mentioned she had his teacher from last year for math this year. He throws himself back in his seat and says, “WELL I DON’T!”

hmmmmm……what kind of year do you think we will be having?

Brandee Shafer - You survived the summer! I love this idea of devotions at breakfast. I’m so not a morning person. I’m doing well to get up at all.
