fav’s for 2013

Throughout the year you learn about a few more things, try a few things, some could go some can stay.

There is always something so homey about Christmas decor.

Then the Christmas tree….who can get enough of it? At 2 this morning I looked out of my bedroom and saw our tree there, got up put a piece of wood on the fire and just shook my head with thankfulness. It just warms my heart, there is just something peaceful about a Christmas tree.

Maybe because as I’m taking out all the ornaments with the kids it brings back so many memories, like our first Christmas ornament, or our first Christmas baby, or an ornament of the same dog as our Sadie Dog who passed away many moons ago now, I just love it!

And for the boys…..

Ok, didn’t get to see my PDub when she came thru town but I love her cookbooks so stinkin’ much!

Or how about my devotional for the year….

Oh gosh, these things, I should NOT, I should NOT, I should NOT, I know this I do, I do, I do! This is a little of my mother with a twist of me. She always has loved Almond Roca but then to make it DARK CHOCOLATE, I know the Lord created these right from heaven!

And then a little of my father…..this is my down fall every darn Christmas, I find the biggest spoon in the kitchen and scoop me up some peppermint ice cream every night while I lick that baby clean. Oh, such a treat when you bite into one of those candies hidden in there.  Cheers dad!

Ok, now to the more practical, but necessary I have learned!

Vinegar….I know that vinegar is used for many things but I have a love for vinegar like I never have before. A friend of mine brought up a subject nobody ever talks about, musty smelling towels, or work out clothing that smell musty, or whatever!  Who admits to this?  Well, we got REAL one day and shared that if you have colored towels, wash clothes, after moisture hits it it just has the gross smell, work out clothes after working out having to peel them off afterwards because they stink (and it isn’t just sweat it is something else) It isn’t like your whites and you can just put a little bleach in there. Little friend detective searched and found the solution….. This is where the vinegar comes in. For colors, vinegar is like what bleach does for whites. So, you put about a cup into your fabric softener area and walla, that smell it GONE!

Ok, and then my favorite hair product for the year! My dry shampoo…..I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff! Gives volume, it revives your hair do to last a couple more days without having to wash your hair. This stuff is AMAZING!

And then one I am not sure I could live without as much as my toothbrush (just kidding maybe not that much) but I do love this stuff.

My girl friend got me going on this and it is so good for; I need sun, rain go away, kind of aching muscles. My kids know they had better not complain about aches or pains because I will hit them with this miraculous wonder so fast they won’t know what hit them. It got me thru planter faciatis when I thought I’d never heal! Massage please!

ok, so that is just a few of my favorites I’ve learned about this year and enjoying this season.

Alecia - LOVE your new place! It’s beautiful and so clean looking. Some of your fav’s are mine too, like PDub, and dark chocolate, and of course vinegar. I buy the big gallons like that above too. I really need to get PDub’s new cookbook everything I have ever made off of her website turns out delicious.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas! I just decorated my tree this afternoon and pulling out all the old ornaments of the kids, either they made or were pics from when they were little made me so nostalgic. And a little sad that they are growing up so fast.
