What a day on the mat. I will preface this with, Corvan spent the day home from school on Friday due to a burning fever. I prayed all day for him knowing the next day was a huge day in his little world. I was getting so MAD because I knew how hard Corvan had worked up to this point in his wrestling and now he is sick.
He had been practicing every day this last week in preparation. It was like getting Rocky ready for the big fight. I had my favorite massage cream a flyin’ every night after practice rubbing it into his sore little body. Eating lean, drinking lots of fluids, on and on……
Then he gets sick. I did only what I knew to do and that is text prayer warriors on behalf of Corvan so that the Lord would hear and perform a miracle.
Corvan woke up and came into my room about four in the morning (I am sure the anxiety of being sick and knowing it was on the fence if he was going to get to go or not was there) I said, “oh honey, how are you doing?” He says, “I feel GREAT! I am ready to go!” I brought him close to me to hug him and he was BURNING! I told him to go back to bed and pray, that is the best medicine right?
Got up at 5, woke kids up, Corvan’s fever had gone down quite a bit just in that hour and he was determined so we headed out the door. Got his weigh in, went to breakfast, gave him his first dose of Advil since he had been feverish and BOOM!
The Lord sustained his little body to do what he knows to do. So stinkin’ proud of him, we are headed to leagues next weekend because of his performance this weekend.
This match was so intense, so fast, it made the ref scramble, and sweat!
Ok, yah, doesn’t he look focused and like, ‘I gotta job to DO!’
And his last match……he’s wrestled this kid several times and knew what he was up against, #1 in the state, he was concerned but confident, super proud of him!
arching out of an arm bar, Momma’s do you feel like crying? I felt the tears welling up……..
This kid took the win like a real man, gracious!
Corv ended up in 2nd, and couldn’t be more proud, with his body not 100 percent and up against the best wrestlers, perseverance was the name of his matchs this meet.
